CONSIDERABLE QUANTITY OF SMUGGLED CIGARETTES SEIZED IN TIRANA

Today, on 29.09.2017, the Directorate of Investigation and Anti-Smuggling of the General Directorate of Customs in cooperation with the structures of economic crime of the State Police organized and successfully finalized the "Smoking Kills" Operation in the framework of the fight against illegal trafficking and informality, as well as following an investigation and processing of intelligence information.

During this operation in Tirana, on "Kujtim Laro" Street, it was discovered the cigarette smuggling center and was arrested in flagrancy the citizen D. Y., born and resident on this street and it was prosecuted the citizen R. SH.

During the search in the apartment of the citizen D.Y. there were found and seized 1301 cartons of cigarettes of various brands, such as: Marlboro, Smoking Kills, Slims, Trokadero, President, Murati, Beneton, Philip Morris, Rojal, etc., which were not equipped with the fiscal stamp of the Ministry of Finances and Economy.

Also, there were seized 27,225 EUR, 55 US$ and a vehicle “Toyota Rav 4”.

The materials are referred to the Tirana Judicial District Prosecutor's Office and further investigation is being carried out for the possible involvement of other persons in this trafficking of cigarettes.
